Windsor High School enrolments hit a 15-year high

WINDSOR High School has recorded its highest enrolment in more than 15 years with the e NSW Government delivering upgrades and expanded opportunities for students.

Currently the school has more than 700 students enrolled, up from 574 in 2020, as families increasingly take advantage of the educational opportunities available at their local public high school, including their high potential and gifted education pathways across STEM, arts and sport.

The growth in enrolment comes as the Government delivers significant upgrades at Windsor High School through its $100M investment in 33 Inspire Partner Schools across NSW.

Students are already learning in their upgraded science laboratories, music facilities, and STEM, food technology and visual arts rooms, with further improvements to industrial technology, administration and outdoor learning spaces to be delivered.

The major upgrade has transformed facilities that had largely been unchanged for more than 50 years, including science laboratories dating back to 1969.

The major upgrade is set to be complete by early 2027. Once complete, the full scope of upgrades will transform Windsor High School into a more modern, fit-for-purpose learning environment across a range of STEM subjects for students to reach their full potential.

Windsor High School’s comprehensive agricultural program has also received a boost with the delivery of a new, purpose-built goat shed.

The new 182 square metre facility provides improved conditions for students and staff caring for the school’s award-winning Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, as well as space for animal feed and chicken coops.

The facility follows a visit to Windsor High School by Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car in 2024, where the need for improvements to the school’s previous agricultural facilities was identified.

The Government’s Inspire Partner Schools program is the largest investment in high potential and gifted education in NSW history, with Windsor High School one of 33 selected partner schools.

The Government is also delivering major education infrastructure across the Hawkesbury, including Richmond Agricultural Centre, a public school and public preschool at Gables, and a new public preschool, primary school and high school at Box Hill.

Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Early Learning and Minister for Western Sydney Prue Car said: “We want parents across the Hawkesbury to know their local public high school will provide their child access to world-class facilities and opportunities.

Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman said she is delighted to see thes upgrades at Windsor High School.

“Facilities like the new Goat Emporium encourage students to learn about agriculture, which is so much part of the Hawkesbury, and the investment in improved music rooms send a message that the arts is for everyone,” she said.

Principal of Windsor High School Jennifer Hawken said: “Our agricultural students work incredibly hard and our new goat shed, ‘The Goat Emporium’, will provide valuable opportunities for students to learn new agricultural and farm-based skills.

“The broader INSPIRE HPGE program is already making a real difference to our students. Our teachers are energised, our students are thriving, and the new facilities being delivered across the school will open even more opportunities for every student who walks through our gates.”
